As children enter the phase 3 team (and tackle the extra flight of stairs up to the top floor of the tower block) we aim to give the children a challenging, fun and varied curriculum as we push them to reach their full potential.
Our new curriculum begins with our topic ‘Guardians of the Galaxy!’ . A hugely enjoyable topic, about space and the Ancient Greeks. The children will see Tim Peake’s module (complete with burn marks), a trip to the Imax and lots more hands on learning.
The spring term theme is ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ This popular space topic explores Victorian history focussing upon life in Victorian Bradford and transport. We enjoy a stimulating visit to Saltaire village to emerse the children in local history.
During the summer term we make more journeys and discoveries in our ‘Lost and Found’ theme. The highlight of the term must be when we abandon the classrooms and use our great outdoor spaces for the fun-filled ‘Island Day’
All pupils participate in weekly swimming lessons at Shipley Pool from September until February half term. Pupils continue on the progress made in their Year 4 swimming sessions, gaining confidence in the water and learning a range of personal survival skills.
We are very much looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic year
