On November 13th, three of our Y5 pupils went to Bradford City Library to meet the author Hillary Robinson, and see the unveiling of the War Memorial rug, which has been made by 1500 children from all over Bradford, helped by the Bradford ‘Ruggers’, over the last four years. It was made of more than 17,000 ‘tabs’ – small pieces of torn up t-shirts, which would be more than a mile long. Hillary, and illustrator Martin Impey, talks about their series of books covering the First World War, and Martin drew an amazing picture as he spoke. Everyone had a great time, and the rug is amazing.
